950,000 Americans infected with HIV By DANIEL YEE Associated Press
ATLANTA - Nearly a million Americans now have the AIDS virus and the nation's ability to keep others from becoming infected still lags despite a government pledge four years ago to "break the back" of the AIDS epidemic by 2005.

The campaign, launched by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in February 2001, intended to cut in half the estimated 40,000 new HIV infections that have occurred every year since the 1990s.
However, the rate of new cases remains about the same, according to CDC data released Wednesday. In Harris County, statistics indicate the rate has declined slightly in the last three years. The county has reported more than 22,000 AIDS cases since 1981.
In 2001, the CDC's campaign focused on outwardly healthy people who did not realize they had HIV about one-fourth of those infected.
But the agency found just targeting those people was not enough.
So last year, the CDC shifted gears, focusing on counseling those who knew they had HIV to get them not to spread the virus.
AIDs really isn't that contagious. You have to work at it to get it, unless you accidently get a biohazard stick from a AIDs carrier or have direct contact with body fluids to a cut etc.
I don't think your "conspiracy" theory that AIDs doesn't exist is operative. You don't just take pictures of tiny microscopic creatures. OK, all line up "say cheese". ;-)
Mandatory zipper locks is the key.
More open zippers killed more people than unlocked guns.
Really? What ever happened to the tens of millions of infected and dying that were predicted in the late 80s and early 90s? AIDS was, is, and will remain a homosexual male and intravenous drug user disease.
And how are these people catching HIV? Mosquitos?
So Sorry, 0.04 percent.
1,000,000/250,000,000*100=?
If the female is shooed away before it gets a full tank, subsequent hosts could get something more out of the bite. (Be careful of the company you keep, IMHO.)
The problem is one of politics and attribution. First, it would be difficult to prove the mosquito was the vector, especially when so many 'more popular' vectors are available.
Second the PC rainbow nazis could never allow such a thought to get out. No one would want to be anywhere near the most likely carrier groups during bug season, and there would likely be enough public outcry for removing them from parks, etc.
It might hurt their little agenda.
It's Bush's fault /SARCASM
But really, I thought that there is now a trend for those homosexuals who do NOT have HIV to try and catch it. Sort of like joining a secret club, get on the AIDS cocktail bandwagon, since HIV is no longer a death sentence.
I believe reading a link from FR about "jump" parties - men go to a house for a weekend - have sexual with a large number of total strangers - and no one is allowed to know who has HIV. My question is - How do you stop someone from becoming infected with a disease, if they WANT to be infected and do EVERYTHING possible to get infected. Throw all the money you want at the problem, but it won't make any difference.
That is 1/295th of the US population. Obviously this is a much more severe issue than obesity, heart disease, high blood presure, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, cancer etc. When will we ever get our priorities right??
Sarcasm-hand wringing alert
Wouldn't that be 0.4 percent?
I've also wondered how many heterosexuals have consensual "fudge packing" sex with their mates, married or otherwise. I'll bet it's a lot higher than one might expect. "Fudge packing" is not limited to gays.
I think the problem with the mosquitos theory is that mosquitos don't transfer enough virus to the host.
That can't possibly be correct.
What happened to the other 0.96 percent that would make up the rest of the 10 % percent homosexual population the media repeats ad nausea. < / sarcasm >
...each one due to somone's misbehavior.
Seriously, is there a threshold to become infected, or does it just take longer to show up?
I didn't say that AIDS doesn't exist. What I said was that it has not been proven that the virus we know as HIV is the cause. It has not been proved and very unlikely to be true.
Remember, AIDS by definition is just a collection of ailments that have been with us for a long time. The idea that there is a common link between all of these ailments and that common link is the HIV virus is very unlikely.
The fact that there is no known photograph of HIV is just an example of the weakness in the whole HIV=AIDS theory. Even you confuse the two. HIV is a virus. AIDS is an ailment caused by a weakened immune system.
How can a virus that is so rare that we don't even have a scanning electron beam microphotograph of it be the cause of all that damage? Not very likely in my opinion.
So Sorry, I meant to say 40.00 percent.
=====For some reason these lines weren't included=====
What percentage of Americans are Democrats?
Your brain would have to be infected to vote for JK
Seems we have found the source of the problem! ;~)
