OTTAWA - When the United States closed its airspace after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, more than 200 airliners were diverted to airports across Canada, where stranded travelers were welcomed into homes.
President Bush was traveling Wednesday to Nova Scotia to give the Canadians a belated "thank you" for helping Americans in their hour of need - a gesture aimed at warming frosty ties between the neighboring nations.

And what should Canada do?
Maybe even send that rust bucket of a sub they bought from the British to patrol the waters.
We sent troops to Afghanistan since 911, had 5 ships patrolling in the Persian Gulf during the invasion of Iraq. We are currently training Iraqis in Jordan as well.
BTW, I realize their are many solid Canadians who support Bush and love America. Only the assholes get the press coverage.
They (the Canadian gov't) aren't going to send troops into Iraq. Public opinion at the start was probably divided equally, but now the support for sending troops there is very low.
I don't even think the Conservative party (of which I am card carrying) would favour sending troops now. Should they run on such an issue, they would lose.
Best case scenario is an election in Iraq, with a new Iraqi army to keep order.
The Canadians were fully onboard in the Afganistan campaign. To their credit they didn't go along with the Iraq adventure.
