To clarify a bit, the graphics studios use Linux servers for the rendering farm, not generally to create the graphics, though, that too is changing.

You are correct in that rendering farms are the biggest part of Linux in the motion picture industry, but all those movies I mentioned except Titanic used CinePaint. The Linux Movie Group states that "Linux is the most popular operating system for animation and visual effects in the motion picture industry."
