If the Republican Party splits, then you can call an end to conservative strength in this country. The United States will become just like Canada.

I predict that this thread will be excoriating President Bush for having hispanic family members before the thread is over.

Yes, alot of us voted for GWB because we had no choice. But, he sure has veered off to the left since the election.

I read right here on FR, that we would "hold his feet to the fire" after he got in.

Let's see what happens.

There should be a total chasm between the Republican Congress and the President on this issue. From personal experience, I can tell you we are out here all alone in dealing with terrorist threats.

The only Terrorist tip line in Texas in is El Paso and they only deal with El Paso. Homeland Security is a bad joke when you need to report troubling individuals making thinly veiled threats to customers at your place of business.

Washington seems to be finally getting the message from the LEGAL citizens/residents/immigrants on the United States of America.

OBEY OUR LAWS OR ELSE!

This issue is going to separate "REPUBLICANS" from CONSERVATIVES once and for all! There is a difference here people and rest assured a San Andreas Fault will open up over this issue.

The President could not be more wrong if he tried; and he ain't trying very hard. Tancredo and the rest of us will eat his lunch and the sack it comes in. The absolute hypocracy flowing in high political circles will have to answer some critical tough questions for not voting the will of the people on this.

Speaking personally I have written two e-mails to both of Texas's Senators and I have yet to receive a response from them and I know the reason they are Republicans not Conservatives. They are "Rino-Repubs" not willing to address the real issues before us. They will rule the day for not doing so, and it is not going to be pretty. Down here in Texas we real TEXICANS call it a "MESKIN STANDOFF" and it gets ugly real quick!

It makes no sense patting down old ladies at the airport and making people take off their shoes when our borders are wide open.

Illegal aliens are just that... "illegal" they should not ever be rewarded in any way for their crime. They should be rounded up and deported.

Im sick to death of hearing their sob stories.

If Bush legitimatizes 15-20 millions of illegal Third World aliens, he may as well will be the last Republican president.

We're slipping and sliding into Third Worldism, folks. Prepare for the worst.

This is the wrong issue on which Bush should waste political capital.

Hopefully the conservative (R)'s will continue to show some fire on this issue.

I think the president would be incredibly stupid to keep pushing his illegal amnesty proposal.

Unfortunately neither party puts national security above
the threat of out-of-control borders. Between the Dems who
want the votes and many Republican businesses who want the cheap labor this (not Social Security) is the third rail in
American politics. That's why the so-called Intelligence
Reform Bill is a joke. PC comes before common sense and the
very real threat of terrorism. Tancredo is right! Also, I
suggest you read Victor Davis Hanson's "Mexifornia." The
damage goes to the heart of the educational, health care,
and social services syatem in the U.S. -- even above and
beyond the real possibility of terrorist infiltration.
