Yea, he's pissed about Ukraine. The Russian mob will be looking at ways at getting back at Ukraine. But I disagree with pulling democracy within Russia. There is a huge problem with security and having people paid off to turn a blind eye towards terrorism. Beslan and the plane bombings would not have happened if security wasn't paid off. Putin's way of putting an end to this is to have more control over these areas. I don't blame him and would have asked that these regional presidents be appointed too in this time of need.
