Although I agree with the article, most blacks kids are not adopted. Most americans would rather go to China and rescue a baby than adopt an american black infant. I wish more were adopted (by anybody).

I posted the part below back in June. My friends wanted a child. This child didn't have to be white, just has to be healthy enough not to need constant medical care.

However, white couples also run into problems trying to adopt black infants. Many social workers do not wish to place a black infant with a white couple because they fear problems latter on in the life of the infant due to "racial identity issue".
Two of my friends (she is of Mexican/Porto Rican/German heritage and he is of Irish/English/Filipino heritage) wanted to adopt a black infant. They both have good jobs, a stable marriage, and a members in good standing of a racially mixed church. I was all set to become godmother to a precious little boy in 2001. THREE social workers scotched the adoption because neither of the parents were black and that would cause problems for the child later in life. I am now the proud godmother to a wonderful toddler who started out life in the Ukraine. That precious baby boy, now toddler, is still in foster care.

That's a sad story because I've heard and know that those type of problems exists. However I also had a friend that wanted to adopt a black child and her parents had a problem with it. They did not want a black child in their family. She later adopted an asian child which they felt more comfortable with. This was in Middle Ohio.

My mother called to adopt children once. The guy on the phone was asking her about her 'race' and her 'accent'. When she wouldn't answer, all she got was a click on the other end of the line.

You are probably correct. But unfortunately they are also correct in saying that its hard to get little black kids adopted.

Too much red tape and law-yuhs and lawsuit happy ex-druggie mothers waiting in the wings to bring to life the movie 'Losing Isaiah'... trust me i know this. I know white families who have adopted from other countries. One family went on a missions trip to Haiti and came back with a family *lol* Distance means not having to deal with red tape BS and interloping social workers telling you have to teach 'their culture' as if being American isn't good enough.
