Strat, do you have a source for that info.. I've only 'heard' otherwise, but would like the hard facts. Reportedly, Earle has a history of politically motivated prosecutions... be they against Dems or Pubs, it's wrong IMO. He's moved from prosecution to persecution, and that's a big problem with lefty lawyers. The laws mean nothing to them when they have an agenda to push.

Earle responded to the fray in Sunday's NYT. In the editorial, he noted he has prosecuted 15 public figures, 12 of them Democrats. I haven't seen anybody dispute the numbers. In addition, after the editorial, the partisan accusations seriously slowed, indicating the numbers are accurate.

I do know Earle successfully prosecuted a Democratic Speaker of the House and A Democrat on the Supreme Court, although I forget what the charges were.

DeLay is a loose cannon. At the very least, he walks a Clintonesque line of legality. The fact that three of his associates are under indictment indicates (to me at least) there are some ethical problems. Nixon tried to argue he didn't know anything, and look how far that got him.
