French rider Richard Sainct died yesterday following a serious crash during a timed section of the Pharaoh's Rally in Egypt. He was 34 years old. Richard Sainct began to compete in Rallies in 1990, and was one of the most experienced riders in this discipline.
Sainct won the Tunisia Rally in 1998 and 1999; the Morocco Rally in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002, the Egypt Rally in 2002, and the Dakar in 1999, 2000 and 2003. In 2004, he finished second in the Dakar, 3rd in the Tunisia Rally and 4th in the Orpi Maroc Rally. He won the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Cup in 2002
