FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A woman who objected to being frisked may be charged with assault for slapping an airport security guard's face with her boarding pass, police said.
The 48-year-old woman swatted the agent after being told she had to be patted down for repeatedly setting off metal detectors before her flight Wednesday, Lt. Tod Dahle said.
"She said if anybody was going to touch her, she was going to touch them," Dahle said. She was "just an average middle-aged person who got upset."
The woman was allowed to leave on another flight, but police plan to pursue a misdemeanor assault charge, Dahle said.
If you fly, you're asking for an anal probe. Don't fly. To hell with the airlines.
I'd bet a month's salary that while these "airport security" neo-morons were harassing this woman that at least five obvious terrosist had been waived by with no problem. At some point, the air travel industry has got to be reclaimed by sane people.
Good for her!!! Hope she slapped 'em hard.
I was thinking about this the other day...if someone attempted to put their hand on my wife or daughter I would put my foot in that person's @ss!
That airport is pretty small in Fargo.
Reclaimed from the government, that is...
The idea that passengers should be screened for the possession of sharp objects is stupid enough.
You ever been to Fargo?
The Fargo airport has a whopping total of 4 gates. Two airlines fly out of there: United and Northwest.
I used to fly in and out of the Fargo airport fairly often. Their security folks were VERY thorough and VERY slow. This doesn't surprise me.
Hats off, a medal and a total cudos for the woman.
Before I would go thru a degradation like this I would walk.
Feel up our women, but keep the borders wide open...
Look, whatever you do, don't do it at the airport. Remember, these TSA folks have homes somewhere. They probably have cars. If satisfaction is needed, there will be ample opportunities for it later, elsewhere. Just get the name.
There is always the option of not flying.
I have had special screening at my local airport. They seemed to pick people on random basis. The security people were very professional, and I had no problem with it at all.
Feel up our women, but keep the borders wide open...
You hit the nail on the head. We're securing our airports, but leaving the rest of the country vulnerable to attack. it sure will be comforting to know that our next attack won't be from using an airplane but will be from terrorists that came across the border unchecked. We will regret it, but we'll tighten up the borders. AFTER
Random = TOTAL STUPIDITY!
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't mind them doing what they have to do to keep that airplane safe. I hope they search everybody, including me and my grandkid, if we beep. Of course, I've never been treated any way other than very professionally and never offensively.
Can't be worse than California. :O)
Last time I traveled, they took from me a manicure instrument with a 1" cuticle remover. I have 14 years training in martial arts. I could have killed the inspector with my index finger.
"There is always the option of not flying"
Not for everyone. Life must go on, meetings and business happen everyday. There just needs to be common sense and sanity with screeners. With weather, overbooking, etc, flying can sometimes be a pain. Screeners with no common sense can just add to it.
On the other hand the record has been pretty good since 9-11. Where do you draw the line with who looks ok and who doesn't? On one end of the spectrum 75 year old grandmas from Sioux Falls obviously are not going to be a threat. On the other end any 23 year old male from Syria would make most anyone nervous to be on a flight with.
Think about it. There was little that was "random" about 9-11 terrorists.
