I hope they use dorm-style cinder block construction, even that doesn't last long in gubmint housing projects.

Oh, just beautiful. After all, we must provide housing for our illegal immigrants, as well as educating them in our colleges, and providing medical services...all at taxpayer expense....what else can the liberals rip off from the taxpayer???

Lack of "affordable housing" is a myth. If a company builds a house and someone buys it, it was affordable.

After the Republican victory on the federal level, look for the liberal establishment to use its control of local government more and more aggressively. We are poorly prepared for this, and need to start preparing now.
There will be many, many outrages to combat, I guarantee you.

California's capitol is the building where Arnold Schwarzenegger works. California's capitAl is Sacramento. ;)

I believe affordable is a relative term. If one's community doesn't want to have a hard time finding cops, firefighters, teachers, nurses, service workers et al to fill those jobs, then there should be housing that those folks would find affordable nearby, or the community is going to have a problem.

Calif. County OKs Aggressive Housing PlanThe county and other sources will provide about $10 million in annual subsidies to cover the difference between the market price of the housing and what the families can afford to pay.

Less expensive housing for 15% means more expensive housing for the remaining 85%. You push the market on one side and something pops out on the other side. Governmental manipulation of the housing market will not work. When will they ever learn?

This will backfire and make housing more expensive for low-income residents, as developers will exit the market or go elsewhere.
Besides, low-income residents shouldn't be trying to buy homes anyway. They should be looking for ways to increase their incomes and cutting back on lavish expenses such as buying rims and sound systems for their tricked-out cars and widescreen TVs.
