Perhaps we should pass a Constitutional Amendment making it mandatory for school bus drivers to discuss socially Conservative issues with the kids on their bus.
I know the idea is Crazy but perhaps my children should be raised by my wife and I and not the FCC, Department of Education, MTV or a bus driver.
You might want to keep that in mind if I ever start reading Letters To Penthouse in front of your child. You'd support that, wouldn't you?
Or, do you only support speech you like?
"...she does NOT have the right to say things to the children that she KNOWS many parents will disagree with."
Yes she does. Teachers do it all the time. The media does it all the time. In fact, the driver was not saying anything that would endanger the kids. She was not endangering them.
And guess what? There is no law that says that children may not be "subverted" behind their parents' backs! Kids are being subverted all the time in all ways just by being enrolled in public schools.
Mrs. Mayor was exercising her rights as a citizen and in the process provding the kids with information that may help to save a child someday.
See, it isn't about educating children. It isn't about supporting parents or families. It's about revenge.
They do it, so we'll do it too and see how they like it!
How about just maintaining the sanctity of the Second Amendment which already exists? OK?
And if Mrs. Mayor's fellow bus driver was a Muslim and wanted to convert the little people on the bus that would be okay with you too?
How about letting me raise my own kids?
So you would selectively enforce the denial of the Second Amendment rights to the driver but not the teachers, media, ad nauseum?
Face it. What the driver was doing - discussing an issue with kids - is perfectly legal and her firing will be overturned.
I'll take that bet.
"How about letting me raise my own kids?"
Hey...be my guest. I think that kids should be homeschooled in light of today's debased and dumbed down curriculum in public schols. However, as long as your kids ride a bus and are exposed to the cynical rigors of public life, they should be able to handle hearing anything within reason of course. And you should be glad that a bus driver has the fortitude (and the right) to express her views on such an important topic to children.
Well, first off, we're discussing freedom of speech and not gun ownership. Teachers don't have the right to say anything they wish in class either. I argue against it all the time.
The media can say anything they wish, as they are explicity named in the Constitution.
Or would you prefer all issues discussed on the school bus be approved by eleni121?
I'm not glad that anyone who works with children wishes to disrupt a family. Were those children supposed to go home and argue her point with their parents? Is that why she made sure to mention discussing it with them?
It's not about betting...it's about struggling for justice. Not only was she doing something she has a right to do, she was presenting information that could prove helpful to the kids. In fact, she was a doing double duty and we should be singing her praises not deriding her.
Are you saying that there is no "School Bus Driver" Clause in the Constitution?
I guess there could be....let me check the second amendment and get back to you.
What the Heck Country do I live in? Why don't this people just go live in China were they would be at home.
