To all: I have a contact in Sadr City (a captain) and asked if I could give him a subscription to something that he could read, and share with his men, like Sports Illustrated, "Mad," Or a particular comic book. (Hey, I know these guys aren't dumb, but sometimes you just want to get your mind out of the real world). Anyway, he said a subscription to SI would be much appreciated, as they guys like keeping up with the sports back home. So that's what he (and his men) get for Christmas from our family.

You might consider a subscription as a gift. Last year, I donated all the remainder of my Marvel comic collection to "gift bags" going over to Iraq. I'm sure these guys get lots of soap and "handi-wipes," but let's think about their entertainment/emotional well being, too.

RE: Magazines and such for the guys downrange.

I know couple of guys at Georgia Tech through a local car club. As the Spring semester was ending, they collected a *big* pile Stuff, FHM, and Maxim magazines from the dorms for me (about 1' high). I shipped those over to an online friend's son in Iraq, where they A) made it (was unsure about that, given content censorship) and B) were much appreciated.
