If you think I'm calling off all the Christmas cards I've begun addressing to the individuals listed early today, forget it!

They are getting Christmas cards; all of them.

I live in Denver, and owe all of you out there a huge thank you for making it possible for us to turn this travesty around.

However, I don't think we should let the Mayor off the hook quite yet. I certainly believe in forgiveness, and I'm willing to give the Mayor some credit for reversing this idiotic decision, but I think if we just drop it after a quick (and believe me, it was also very weak) apology, he will be getting off much too easy. It would be a little like being sucker-punched by someone, then having him run away and hide for a week, only to be finally cornered by a huge and growing posse, upon which he cries, "uncle!", and then expects everyone to just forget about it and go away. Not quite, Mr. Mayor.

How about first answering these questions:

1) WHY did you do this?

2) How did you think that EXCLUDING the largest segment of the population would somehow be "INCLUSIVE"?

3) What else do you have up your sleeve/why should we ever trust you again?

4) Why did you hide from the public and the media for nearly a week following your declaration?

5) What is your understanding of the foundational principles of this Republic?

I think that this is far from over, as it brings into serious question this Mayor's ability to make sound decisions. It also brings his honesty into question. On that last statement, you all might be amazed to know that this afternoon, Mayor Hickenlooper actually stated (and I SWEAR I'm not making this up), that he was told by maintenance staff that the "Merry Christmas" sign was getting old and needed replacement soon anyway (roflol...oh please, Mr. Mayor... you're killing me!) The Denver Post reporter whose article started this whole thing last Friday subsequently said that he never gave her the maintenance excuse. He simply told her, as was reported, that he personally opposed it and thought that "Happy Holidays" would be more inclusive. Come on, Mr. Mayor, which is it? I should also note that when asked tonight whether he supported the Denver Partnership's refusal to allow Christian messages or songs in the Parade of Lights, he completely dodged the question once, and when re-asked, flat out refused to answer. Amazing...

He just cannot be allowed to slither away like this. He has spit on each of us and all that we hold dear, and I think he owes us a major Mea Culpa here, rather than a "Sorry about that, can we all get along now?" I think this is critical in order to chasten him to the point that he will at least think twice before launching any other nutty liberal experiments (and I can tell you from personal knowledge, he's got more and worse lined up from where this came from). It is also a very poorly kept secret that he and at least two of his top staff have substantial political ambitions beyond their current positions. From what we have seen so far, this must not be allowed to happen!
