True - in fact as Houston keep retreating East many of his remaining troops were ready to mutiny as they thought ole Sam was a coward and afraid to stand and fight (Sam new the numbers and knew that he had to find a battle of his own choosing when odds were more in his favor)

By retreating all the way east he fooled the Mexicans into believing that he was taking the Army into Louisiana to escape.

Once he camped at San Jacinto and found the Mexicans "napping" he had the bridges burned and then gave the orders to advance and charge

The Texans knowing of the Alamo and Goliad massacres were itching for revenge.

It fact as the drove the surprised Mexicans into the bayou the Texans stood on the bank and keep shooting them until they ran out of gun powder.

I've always thought that the lesson from the Alamo and Goliad were important... and why we tend to remember the Alamo, more than the massacre of Goliad....

the men of the Alamo fought to the death.

The men of Goliad were murdered after they surrendered....

There is not a more profound point in Texas history than these two events placed side by side to emphasize the importance of duty and honor, even if it's the last thing you do on this earth. Men who willingly give there lives in a great effort are immortalized, while those whose lives are taken (while just as brave and tragic) are usually forgotten.

God Bless Texas...
