Why do we pay so many taxes? Simple really. Those good folks we've placed in power in Washington are sort of like that businessman on an expense account from his company buying everyone a drink at the bar. He's not all bad; he's just flush with the idea of spending someone else's money. Think about it. You're never as careful when you're spending funds that didnt originate in your own wallet. Let our boys in Washington pay for some of their pet projects out of pocket and our national budget would be balanced in a heartbeat.
We in the Middle say that it's time for us to control where our money goes. We're generous, caring and thoughtful people. Why must we be treated like children who dont know any better?
Few of us begrudge old Uncle Sam his pound of flesh for the services he provides each and every one of us. He protects our borders and international interests with brave soles who probably don't get paid enough. He provides a highway system that can take us to any doorstep in any town. He provides more brave individuals who come and help when we make that phone call scared and at our wits end in the middle of the night. He helps to improve the quality of our lives immeasurably. Unfortunately, in his quest to do good things, he sure wastes a whole lot of money.

What a CROCK!
How bout those we have elected locally in our state.
I'm sure it would never happen, but the plan in this article is almost exactly what I have said for years, that I would like to see happen.
The option of having my tax dollars going to programs that I care about, and want to fund, would take away a lot of the pain of having to pay taxes at all. I do it all the time, in choosing what charity my few extra dollars go to, but I feel happy about sending the money because it was MY CHOICE.
the bigger question we should all be asking is are income taxes legal?according to the supreme court the word (income)in the 16th ammendment is to apply only to profits of a buisness or corporation they also stated that the same is then true of all (income) as described in title 26 the u s tax code otherwise the 16th ammendment and the tax code would be unconstitutional
Thread has been dead awhile.
Nice job of rummaging around in the dead thread file, ron.
Heck, yesterday someone picked up a thread from June of last year.
Ron failed to find the oldest tax thread he could.
