BLOOMBERG'S CREDIBILITY "PLUNGES"

Bloomberg News reports:

Tasers Should Be Banned, Human Rights Group Says; Shares Plunge

November 30, 2004 08:11 EST -- Police and military officers should be banned from using Taser International Inc. stun guns until their safety can be proven, Amnesty International said in a report. Taser's shares plunged 50 percent in early trading.
Uh, no... the stock simply split 2:1 today. Thanks to our correspondent "Irrational Exuberance" for the catch.

Don't bother clicking on the "Bloomberg News Reports" link; they've long since disappered the original article.

Notice how quick the reporter was to assume that Amnesty International has the power to cut a company's value in half in a matter of hours simply by putting out a press release.

Here's today's Heros of Media Schadenfreude:

To contact the reporter on this story: Subrata N. Chakravarty in New York at SChakravarty@Bloomberg.net

To contact the editor responsible for this story: Rob Urban at robprag@bloomberg.net

Has Al Hunt started working for Gloomberg yet?

This sounds like the bs that Al Hunt would spread.

Corporate lawyers should drag Gloomberg into civil court when this left wing BS happens.

Sounds like Al Hunt is now working at Gloomberg with a story like this one.

I read the "TOP" stories on Bloomberg every day. They have gone very liberal in the last year.

I agree that the place has done a 180. The clincher for me was that they were going over the election results as if it was 5PM Nov. 2nd. There are communists in the newsroom of a supposed capitalist organ. OTH, it's well worth the effort to separate the wheat from the chaff to get up to the second info on stuff the MSM (including FoxNews) just refuse to report. Buyer Beware.

I doubt that the reporter can still be reached at Bloomberg.

If Al Hunt isn't there yet, it seems his influence is preceeding him. HA!

Do we know who is filling Hunt's job at the WSJ yet?
