RICE LAKE, Wis. - Two survivors of a deer-hunting confrontation that killed six of their friends joined hundreds of people at a community service that included prayers for both comfort and forgiveness.
Lauren Hesebeck and Terry Willers sat near each other at the Tuesday night prayer service organized by area ministers who urged people to find comfort in the Lord and avoid falling into fear and prejudice in the wake of the shootings blamed on a Hmong immigrant.
"Community support is great," Hesebeck told a reporter, a blaze orange ribbon pinned to his jacket in memory of his hunting buddies. "That is about all I want to say."
Asked about the emotion of the last few days, Hesebeck, who works for a Rice Lake car dealer and was wounded in his shoulder, just lowered his head and walked to his seat at the Rice Lake High School Auditorium.
Willers, his neck still in a brace from the wound he suffered, declined comment.
They joined about 900 people who packed into the auditorium for the 70-minute service of prayers, Bible readings, music and calls for healing in this town of 8,300 - a community one pastor described as full of "souls exhausted by grief."
The six deer hunters gunned down in the confrontation Nov. 21 lived in the Rice Lake area. The last of the funerals was Monday.
Chai Soua Vang, 36, from St. Paul, Minn., has been charged with the shootings.
Am I giving you a workout this morning?

Sorry, just can't forgive pure evil. Try me tomorrow. Might forgive those who want to string this guy up.
True. So far this pint sized pest is playing the race card. Are the liberal oriented people of Wisc. dumb enough to fall for this Hmong's hallucinations and lies? I think the killer is crazy and belives the killings were justified.
I'm not asking anyone to forgive anyone. I just find it interesting to see what those closest to the tragedy are doing.
I'm not into forgiving those who murder 5-6 people and it's not in self defense..... This psycho killer needs to meet his Maker ASAP.
Yeah, you are! ;o) That's ok, I haven't had the time to search for articles and have been skimming most of them the last couple days. Things are REALLY going to slow down for me for about a month so I'll be able to focus on this more until roughly mid-January.
He shot them in the BACK!

I would have figured as much from those bottom dwellers at DU.
Blamed on a Hmong immigrant? Blamed on a Hmong immigrant?
You disrespect the shaman. He is a wonderful man according to his daughter, (even tho he abuses his wife, threatens to kill her with a gun blah blah) and is highly regarded by the community. Blecch.
I agree. My response is, "Sure, I forgive you. Now slip your head through this noose."
I'll be interested to see if the Hmong 'community' pays for his attorneys. If they want no part of someone like him and say that he doesn't represent Hmong people, let's see them put their walk to the talk. Or will these 'community' leaders turn out to be Jesse Jacksons.
There you go. Forgiveness and consequences do not have to be exclusive. Something the liberals and commies can't understand.
Is the killer claiming he's a shaman? Or a respected man in his Hmong community?

Go here for Vang's excellent shaman adventures.
I don't mean to be rude, but observe the amount of posts you have pinged me on with the exact same message in the less than 24 hours....I guess you need to remove me from the list, as you are wearing me out...lol
