Bush Visits Canada, Does Not Seek Asylum

A White House spokesman today denied reports than President George Bush will defect or seek asylum in Canada as a way to protest what some experts see as a right-wing takeover of the U.S. government.

The initial report apparently came from an unnamed Canadian immigration official who said, "Mr. Bush is a celebrity who is outspoken about his political views. Usually, when someone like that crosses the border, we just automatically start the asylum paperwork."

The White House immediately denied the report, noting that while the president is disappointed that conservative lawmakers have blocked the intelligence reform bill, he loves his country and will remain and fight for change no matter who currently controls things in Washington.

The spokesman quoted Mr. Bush as saying, "My Canadian trip is just a diplomatic visit to our faithful neighbors whose partnership with the U.S. over the years has been inconsequential in so many ways."

I hope he negotiated a way to allow American emigres to enter Canada without a long waiting period.

Maybe he's going to give a "Jimmy Farter"-type reprieve to all the Hollyweirdos and Kerry-lefties who headed for Canadia after Nov. 2 mandate!

That was brutal. Arguably true, but brutal.

I'm guessing that the rumor that Bush was going to defect is what was holding the liberals back from doing so themselves. Now that the rumor has been rebutted, I expect a rush to the border.

One disgruntled Canadian who abused his power to influence the media to spread horrible lies. How dare he.

Can't figure out what he's trying to say. Maybe it's like an underhanded compliment, but it doesn't seem to rise that far. I'm guessing it's a misquote. Probably should say "consequential".

Yup, he must of been on the fence there, he's got that liberal streak you know! ;)

Satire, indeed. Did anyone tune Mike Savage today? He says our President is leaning to the left, way left. What do you say?

Check the source. It's not a quote at all. :=)

Guess this is one of our better consolatory meetings.

It was a made up quote, because scrappleface is a satire site. The "quote" said exactly what it intended to say, which was a fake bitchslap of Canada.

And to think I actually thought to myself, "This satire is so obvious I doubt one Freeper will bite."

BTW, you might wanna rethink your screenname there.

Would you folks stop trying so send all your leftist government-dependent pansies to Canada! We're still sorting out the lot you sent us in the 1780's (United Empire Loyalists). Send yours to Greenland, or Iceland, or France, or anywhere but here!

The problem was that it wasn't funny, just rambling BS. The guys at Scrappleface need to take a refresher. They're slipping.
