Think about the term "exchange" (which is used in physics) or maybe "transfer" instead of communication. Think about "status" or "condition" instead of information content. I donno. The whole field reeks with sloppy, and thus potentially misleading terminology. Gives me a brain-ache.

LOLOLOL! But, er, Shannon's theory is titled A Mathematical Theory of Communication. So far we have been using terms from his theory very precisely. IMHO, if we go with common words such as exchange or transfer there is a risk of additional confusion. If we fabricate new terms (like BioComm which I suggested at post post 448 or some German moniker like Doctor Staochastic suggested at post 453 to equate to "information [Shannon, reduction of uncertainty in the receiver"]") - then we are free to define it. IOW, Lurkers won't read the term thinking they already know what it means.
