It's time for U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to resign. Over the past seven months, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which I chair, has conducted an exhaustive, bipartisan investigation into the scandal surrounding the U.N. Oil-for-Food program. That noble program was established by the U.N. to ease the suffering of the Iraqi people, then languishing under Saddam Hussein's ironfisted rule, as well as the economic sanctions imposed on Iraq by the U.N. after the first Gulf War. While sanctions were designed to instigate the removal of Saddam from power, or at least render him impotent, the Oil-for-Food program was designed to support the Iraqi people with food and other humanitarian aid under the watchful eye of the U.N.

He should have hit the road long ago. But I won't hold my breath (I might turn blue) waiting for someone to give him the boot.

...it was never likely that the U.N. Security Council, some of whose permanent members were awash in Saddam's favors, would ever call for Saddam's removal... Coleman isn't (France) clear (France) who exactly (France) he's talking about (FRANCE) here...
To: conservativecorner
No, let him stay. and drag down the UN for years to come. His of more value in the UN than out....

"While many questions concerning Oil-for-Food remain unanswered, one conclusion has become abundantly clear: Kofi Annan should resign. The decision to call for his resignation does not come easily, but I have arrived at this conclusion because the most extensive fraud in the history of the U.N. occurred on his watch. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, as long as Mr. Annan remains in charge, the world will never be able to learn the full extent of the bribes, kickbacks and under-the-table payments that took place under the U.N.'s collective nose." I dearly love Senator Coleman. I believe that it's God's blessing that we were rewarded with such a fine senator as a result of the hubris of the democrat's Funerally for Wellstone.

But... but...
Isn't it racist to demand that at black man resign?

Did anyone notice that CBS actually covered "Oil for Food" on tonight's newscast? It was covered in their "Inside Story" segment. I was shocked! They even said Kofi Annan was a target of the investigation. Granted they only gave the story 2 minutes.
No, I really wasn't watching SeeBS, I turned on the local affiliate for the lottery numbers, sat down in front of the computer and didn't bring the remote with me.

Norm Coleman doesn't get it. A man as sophisticated, urbane, and well dressed as Kofi Annan clearly cannot be held to the same standards as ordinary people. Doesn't Sen. Coleman understand that Annan has bigger plans and higher goals? He can't be hamstrung by ordinary standards of honesty and accountability. It's a shame that a great man with a mission should be henpecked by little minds that can't see the greater good.
He has a new world order to build.
To: conservativecorner
I been telling Norm this for years ,but he still thinks
the UN has a valid reason to exist.
Maybe he's actually, (slowly) starting to come around?

No... I bet Bill Clinton would just love to have Kofi's UN job. He'd have no responsibilities whatsoever, & he'd have socialist dictators from all over the world sucking up to him.
