I don't think that anyone, even an atheist, should have a problem with Christmas. (I suspect even the atheists celebrate Christmas without the religious reference.) Jesus Christ was probably the most influential historical figure ever. Even those who don't believe that he was the son of God cannot deny this. If we have a holiday commemorating the birth of George Washington and a holiday commemorating Martin Luther King, it makes sense to have a holiday commemorating the birth of Christ.
