What a remarkably astute observation!
The Ukraine could be used just as we use Iraq: to keep troops, armaments and a presence in the area.
Russia signs treaties and conducts secret business with all our other enemies, why shouldn't we get even closer to their center of power?

millions of dollars from US and EU US and EU acting together on a project? Possible, but seems a stretch.

Who TF needs to fight them and needs a front to do it? They have their Chechens, and both these richly deserve one another.

I have no animosity toward Russia or Russians or Putin for that matter.
Why would American want to fight Russia? If anything, a successful and prosperouos Russia will be a great benefit for America. Among other benefits, a free and prosperous Russia will be a counteracting power to China.
If the Russians don't start reproducing, they might lose Upper Manchuria and Siberia to China in a few decades.

Be happy we keep our tin-foilers well-chastised around here. I t seems that throughout the rest of the world including DU, the DNC, most of Europe, and apparently, the Russian Media they are rising to the top.

Putin is pro-American.. Are we pro-Russia...? Why shouldn't we be?
Eastern Europe is a bridge too far for us. Our enemies are the Islamists, not Putin.

A Letter to Maidan: How NTV Makes Its News
Added: Maidan-INFORM, 30-11-2004 02:21
Today I did not see many demonstrations and rallies in Donetsk, except for about a hundred of tipsy young guys in their late teens-early twenties at Lenin Square. They had plenty of Yanukovych support paraphernalia. Pretty drunk and fanatically fired up, they were running out to the street in front of the cars.
A Letter to Maidan:
Today I did not see many demonstrations and rallies in Donetsk, except for about a hundred of tipsy young guys in their late teens-early twenties at Lenin Square. They had plenty of Yanukovych support paraphernalia. Pretty drunk and fanatically fired up, they were running out to the street in front of the cars. The cars were honking at them and the crowd was happy about it. The highlight of the rally was two teenagers a la Beaves and Buthead who were agitating people to go and yell for Yanukovych!
Only on every 50th car (mostly taxi cabs) I noticed the tied ribbons; they honked to show their support. However, when passing through the square at night, I notice a truck with NTV (Russian main TV channel) logo with a satellite dish. I was quite surprised: Had a hundred of drunk teenagers attracted such attention?
Howeever, wait! 11.20.04; 20:25-20:50
Suddenly several cars stopped at the traffic light and blocked the traffic; the cars were decorated with the elections attributes. The most active among the drunk teenagers jumped on the first car.
Five minutes later the street was filled with 15-20 cars decorated with ribbons, stickers and flags. All the action was coordinated by a moderator with a loudspeaker. The traffic stopped. Then the moderator gave a command, and all the space between the cars was filled in with the Yanukovych fans who theatrically started waiving the flags and posters. And then look! Reporters got out of the truck and shot a short report in 2-3 minutes.
10 minutes later the traffic was moving normally. 20 minutes later almost all the cars were gone. The unorganized circling and drunk yelling continued.
This is how NTV reporters are making their news. I wont be surprised if they talk about thousands of appalled Donetsk dwellers on the streets.
