I think it might important to watch developments surrounding the FTAA. Looks like the EU is the test run for integrating a number of countries within and bordering hemispheres where the sovereignty of individual countries is ceded to the new creation. The FTAA will integrate even more the whole region from Canada to S. America and I believe it will have severe ramifications for our Constitution as well as legal system.
I know, I have a lot of qualms about the FTAA. What the problem could be is will the US have to recognized homosexual marriages from Canada for example? How about animal sacrifice, practiced by some of the folk religions in the Carribean and Central America, would that make the laws against them here in the US and the various States null and void? That's what we might be facing.

I agree there's a lot to consider although the useful "mediots" will feed us the usual fluff and swill about it being just a trade agreement. Sure looks to me that any elected Rep that signs off on the FTAA just might be in violation of their oath of office doesn't it?
