I didn't vote FOR W so much as I voted against John Fn sKerry, a man entirely UNFIT to be CinC. People are forgetting that, already. He was the monster put up against W. It was a fix, in that sense.
I was upset by W's grinning and tin ear in the debates, even though on substance he dominated Kerry, who got the backing of the LM. I thought W's campaign, led by 'boy genius' Karl Rove as Ann Coulter sarcastically refers to him, was an accident waiting for each day to dawn so they could snatch defeat out of victory.
But up to that point, W had shown a tendency to support conservative notion and people of faith. And with the Gonzales fiasco, his failure to criticize McCain for completely stepping over the line in calumniating the Swifties, his leftie convention, his backing of Spectre right into the chairmanship it turns out, his recent floating the amnesty notions for foreign nationals secretly in this country, and those BIZARRE Rovish statements just weeks, days, before the election concerning 'gay unions', it doesn't quite appear to be the same W as the one I thought was running at the beginning of the year.
But we'll see.
And how many millions of dollars in ads did Kerry spend trying to tell the public otherwise?
Of course people of faith played a part, and many of them were putting social issues first in that decision. Many of them were also putting national security and the WOT efforts first. Many of them were also seeing this President attempt to restore the economy and keep the government from picking their pockets as much. But for most, it was all of the above....the total picture.
Contrary to what you may think, most people of faith aren't single issue voters. Those that are had long-since decided that Bush isn't a "real" conservative, and went the way of single-digit candidates.

Contrary to what you may think, the mere 'single issues', as you derisively term them, go to some of the worst crimes committed by humanity against Christ the King. It's important to those who fear and love Our Lord. The Faith matters to them, if not to others. A Protestant faith of sorts mattered to our founders. It was important to THEM. It was even foundational.
It was a win-win situation!

Yes, they are important to those who fear the Lord. But as you certainly must know, most serve another master. Not all "conservative voters" are believers....remember?
They don't ultimately believe in what I confess, that's true. I'm a traditionalist Catholic. But I certainly think the vast majority consider themselves religious Protestants, along with the far fewer religious Catholics.
Well, as you know - not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is a Christian. Hence, those in the Body of Christ, those who simply call themselves Christian, and even secular conservatives, voted for Bush for a variety of reasons.
I said religious Protestants and religious Catholics. That's sometimes used derisively by the liberals - those of the tolerance, etc. But I was careful to refer to those who take their religion seriously, as opposed to those who poll the same as any secular 'science' promoter or neo-pagan feminist.
