It was an ancient Elamite law that anyone buying a used camel had to be provided with an operating manual inscribed on two clay tablets with detailed instructions on how to "brick" the camel before beginning any long desert crossings. Dr. Abdi has undoubtedly found these inscribed bricks in what must have once been a used camel lot.
Unfortunately, the invention of papyrus for writing made traditional bricking no longer practical and it died out in about 1100 BC.
