The unfortunate thing is that the opposition is not as powerful as one might believe. The Mullahs are backed by the Revolutionary Guards and other islamothugs. These guys are as brutal as Saddam's people. Just ask the family of the 14 year old child that broke the fast during Ramadan. They beat him so severely that he died.

The strength of the opposition is really the key issue..DRZin's daily Iranian thread suggests it is a lot stronger..One scenario is that you have revolts breaking out around the country..an opposition govt is annouced..the mullahs attempt to put it down..and then the new leaders appeal to the US for military intervention.. I think the whole Iranian question is on a very tight timetable that no one eally understands. I believe that there are only TWO absolutes at work here. ONE is that the mullahs are dteremi9ned to get a nuclear weapon, and TWO. Israel will under no circumstances allow that to happen..regardless of what the rest of the world, including the US says, or does..
