The show is dispicable!
I watched last night's episode in which a 16 year old kid ran over a woman with his parents car and was upset because he might get into trouble. He was further scripted to say that the woman, who was a grandmother type, had "lived her useful life" and so what that he ran her over.
The show is phsycopathic, sick and twisted! As are those who wrote it and those who aired it!

What do you expect? Veggie tales & Barney probably would not sell well at 9 pm on sunday night.

And you conveniently forgot to mention that the kid's mother was extremely upset about her son's lack of remorse. That's kind of an important item to omit. Maybe that was sort of the whole point, illustrating how some kids today are overly materialistic - sometimes you need to show how despicable actions look, to get that point across.

Honestly haven't seen the show, but a friend of mine described it as a soft core porn show trying to have a plot.
Good for Yum! brands.

Whoa, dude!
Life is not "Leave It To Beaver." This is an adult show with very adult themes.
In the storyline you are discussing, Mom and Dad are getting a divorce. Mom is an over-the-top-Martha-Stewart type who drives Dad batty. The kids are stuck in the middle. The show is showing this AWFUL situation in a VERY realistic way. The Dad tried to buy the affections of the kids, the son got a car. Mom objected, son drove off, and on the way home accidentally hit an old woman. Boy drives off. Family is conflicted and makes what is obviously a BAD choice, they decide to try to hide the crime. There is no suggestion that this is the right thing to do, au contrair, the voice over from the dead neighbor suggests that this is a very bad thing to do.
So far the show has been funny and has dealt with topics that many of us can relate to (my wife sympathizes with the mother of the ADD kids). It is NOT family fare. It comes on at 9:00pm and we send our kids to bed.
