You do know that Jefferson absolutely rejected all of Jesus' miracles, the idea that he was/is the Son of God, the virgin birth, etc, correct?
His personal writings give the best examples. For example:
"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." Thomas Jefferson, 1823
And Jefferson's creation of the Jefferson Bible was not for the sake of the Indians. Jefferson himself was quite clear about the purpose. It was because he specifically rejected everything he considered supernatural about the life of Christ but wanted to reconcile the "problems" with the New Testament with his affinity for Christ's moral teachings.
