WASHINGTON Congress is likely to move to reduce U.S. funding of the United Nations if leaders at Turtle Bay don't come clean and institute major reforms in the wake of the Iraq oil-for-food scandal, The Post has learned.Recent interviews with Congress members and staff investigators revealed growing shock and outrage at the scope of history's biggest financial scandal, in which Saddam Hussein is alleged to have ripped off $21.3 billion from a humanitarian program intended to provide food and medicine to the Iraqi people.
The officials said there is increasing sentiment to take drastic action, including cutting U.S funding if the United Nations doesn't make radical changes in its secretive policies and questionable management procedures.

The UN is accountable to nobody. But at least somebody in congress has the nads to try and tighten the purse strings. Let them headquarter in France.
Is the HBM (has been media) covering this story yet?
Thanks for the ping!
I would eliminate the funding, not CUT it!
No, and my guess is this: If they DO cover this story, it will HASTEN the fall of the UN.
Side note: I think Castro is not long for this world, and a la Arafat will die within a year or so. What plans is the US making for the future, in Cuba? I would so love to see it prosper and flower in a free Republic of Cuba...
From your lips to God's ears.
What you said.
"Can we bulldoze it into the East River?"
Lock all the doors first. Or we could replace all the Muzac with the comedy stylings of Carrot Top! That will get the rats out of the ship!
Tell them that until Koffi fesses up the United States will withold however much Saddam skimmed off. A $21.3 billion tax cut would be very nice.
Whatever it takes. . .of course, we could shorten the travel time and just make it. . .from here. . .to the Oval Office . . .and save God the time and trouble ;^)
That's our tax money going to that corrupt bunch at the UN. Stop all funding and get out of the UN and do it soon!
Time to put away the carrot and take out the stick!
