LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles police officer was shot in the stomach during a gunbattle in South Los Angeles Saturday night.
The shootout happened at a suspected rave party in the Vermont Knolls area near Broadway and 83rd Street, just before midnight.
Police said they were trying to break up a loud party, possibly an illegal rave, when suspected gang members fired on them. Officers immediately returned fire killing one person, the channel 4 News reported
The injured 30-year-old officer was listed in stable condition after surgery.
At least two partygoers were injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators said they detained dozens of people for questioning and spent hours after the shooting collecting evidence. There was no word on any arrests.
What an oxymoron 'illegal rave'
Rave parties are full of drug use.
What is the Rave part?
Most raves are illegal because they're held on abandoned property (technical tresspassing) and also for the copious amounts of drugs there.
So for a 40 something the equivalent would be a Field Party?
The rave part is the way one acts when doped up on X and meth.
It's a bunch of punks squatting on property that isn't theirs (usually warehouses or similarly large open areas) and playing loud music while they get hopped up on dope. All the Leftists claim it doesn't harm anyone, no matter how many kids OD on junk or girls get raped while intoxicated.
Not sure. I've never attended one of those, but I went to rave once. I was not impressed.
I await an explanation from those who are more "rave" than I am, but my guess is that it is not the party itself that is illegal but what goes on at the rave party.
How about 300 people and a band stuffed into our parent's house on a Friday night? (Parents out of town for the weekend of course)
BTW, we live on Lake James in rural, NC.
What the hell is that? My wife and I are wine drinkers and I do a few shots with the guys of Jack Daniels playing cards... but....

My sister knows a girl who has barely a spine after her ecstasy and meth taking. If all she drank was wine, that would be great.

That is what we called a house party.

OD? Well, don't take the drug and it won't happen.
Raped at a rave party? Honey, when you go to the dump you will be attacked by the filth.
Solution: Don't go to the dump.
I would have a difficult time expressing my sympathy for either event, and I'm the Dad of two daughters.
