DENVER (AP) - The food at the Federal Corrections Camp in Alderson, W.Va., apparently is nothing to write home about - unless one is eating it with Martha Stewart.
Roman Catholic nun Carol Gilbert, 57, who is serving time in the same prison as the famous homemaker, says she enjoys eating with Stewart, although the setting could be better.
"We're not talking about a tea party," Gilbert's attorney, Sue Tyburski, told the Rocky Mountain News for a story in Saturday's editions. "We're talking about a big cafeteria setting with the terrible food."
Gilbert is serving 33 months on convictions of obstructing the national defense and damaging government property for her role in an anti-war protest at a missile silo in 2002.
Stewart was convicted on obstruction of justice in May and began serving her five-month sentence at the women's federal prison Oct. 8.
Stewart, 63, is getting "kid-glove" treatment from the guards, Tyburski said.

Folks who really don't know that lying to the cops during an investigation is a crime should be considered mentally incompetent.
I sooooooo agree with you, this felon is getting off way to easy for my liking and her shareholders are not thrilled about her lenient sentence yet her stock has risen to $24 while she sits in prison stealing sugar, etc. go figure.
I've noticed that there is a lot of this "hate the rich" class envy here on FR. The free market must really burn you up, huh?
Btw, looking for link, anyone hear Fox this morning? Apparently there is a news story or rumor that Martha was 'sneaking' spices and other stuff and baking goodies without permission. Her microwave liberties were suspended. Was she baking for her pals or just for protection? Maybe both!
There was another article I read about Martha in which she was caught smuggling such delicacies as brown sugar, butter and cinammon into the prison in her bra so that she could "spice" up the prison food. For some reason, I just thought it was the coolest thing.
Makes one wonder if they are sharing a cell. ;-~>.....
Yes...
Death for her would have been better justice for her horrible crime.....In that way, the drones of the world could rejoice.
One is in prison, the other opens a library in his name.
If I had to go to prison I would do the same thing!! lol
Power has its perqs.
I saw the "prison" that Martha is in. It's a freakin' country club.
If there's so much justice in her sentence why is Ken Lay still walking around?
Patience, grasshopper.
"2 very well known people get convicted of Federal perjury.
One is in prison, the other opens a library in his name."
I certainly think the one who opened the library should have been the one behind the bars.
Martha may be a snobby witch, but her crime is no worse than Billy's.
"Cat fight!"
All nuns are married to Jesus. They even wear wedding bands.
To a point...
"The debate apparently didn't hold her attention because she fell asleep while it was on," a letter said.
Despite being a pauper, I could find many ways to keep her awake...
Interesting ... a Catholic nun in jail. Hmmm ...
Sun dried tomatoes, capers, morels, woodland truffles, saffron, silver dragees and Scharfenberger chocolate.
I'll bet it really burns them up when they realize what will come of the Kmart/Sears deal. Martha Stewart Omnimedia products will likely be placed in every Sears in the country making Martha rich beyond her wildest dreams.
..exactly...you can also bet that this form of 'religious expression' is the ONLY one endorsed by the Left.
