There are many hints that grass-roots Democrats want to move to the center — pollster Scott Rasmussen (who accurately predicted Bush's victory margin) found 51% of Democrats want a more centrist 2008 candidate than John Kerry.

A Dumbocrat more centrist than Kerry? This guy will have to be some kind of alien hybrid, manufactured out of spare parts. The Dims will have to call on Dr Frankenstein to perform the necessary surgery.

I hate to say it because the guy makes me want to throw a brick at my TV (but then, I'm a Republican, so that's the reaction I'm supposed to have), but the only person I can think of who'd actually be able to help them is Carville. He may be an obnoxious snake, but he's not a Northeastern elitist or a West Coast poseur, and he's the only person they've got who's actually run a winning national campaign in the past 30 years. He's also at least clear-eyed enough to actually admit that the Democrats lost fair and square, and they need to quit bad-mouthing the voters and make some fundamental changes if they don't want to keep doing it.

But they won't pick him because they've turned into a religious cult, and they'd rather make the ideologically pure choice than the pragmatic one that will help them win. The other day, I got an email petition from some idiots wanting Howard "YEEEEAAAGHH!" Dean to run the party. Brilliant. Take the guy who had all the PR, all the endorsements, all the momentum and all the money and couldn't win a single primary; the guy whose campaign was so poorly managed, he blew all his money on commercials in Iowa and had nothing left to mount a comeback with when he lost; and put that guy in charge of all the strategizing and budgeting of your campaigns nationwide.

And they think Bush voters are drooling morons.

Except for sneering Michael Moore types, the new mantra of Democrats is learning how to see red — as in Republican red states. Problem is, nobody appears to want the key job of DNC chairman except those from super-blue states.

Maybe they could get Dixie Pr!cks Natalie Maines from the very red state of TX to be DNC Chairman.

There's some Dems out there on various state levels that could steer the party back in the right direction. But it's a 6-10 year project. Dems will lose again in the mid-terms and again in 08. Maybe by that point it will finally sink in that calling the majority of the voters uneducated ignorant bigots is a bad idea.

Yes--he did.

The boyfriend of the prostitue waited in the car while she was having sex with Beckel. Bob's wife was out of town when he phoned the girl for sex from an ad he saw on the internet.

He wrote her a check for $600 (two hours work at $300 an hour), and the next morning he found a note on his car windshield asking for a large sum of money or he would be blackmailed.

Beckel called his attorney, and they sweated for a day over what to do. Finally, they decided to go to the police because there was no guarantee that even after he paid the hush money, the story would not wind up in the tabloids or on the internet.

What amazes me is that Beckel is still a Democrat shill. Two weeks ago he was on TV screaming at Ann Coulter. I thought "Why is he still around?"

I'd like to nominate Maynard Jackson. He's dead you say. Well, what difference does that make when it comes to chairmand of the DNC. It would be an improvement.

Zell Milller had it right. The Democrats are a "national party no more."

It's too bad that Joe Lieberman is too laid back. The Democrats need a hawk as DNC Chairman, and Lieberman fits that bill. But, I don't think Lieberman is aggressive enough. I also think Donna Brazile would be a great choice. She is from Louisiana, comes from a military family. But, I think Donna is too smart to be roped into a losing action at the DNC. And....I think in some ways she is really a "Black" closet Republican. She'd make a great team with Karl Rove and Ken Mehlman at the RNC! She would have a golden opportunity to make postive, meaningful, permanent history in the party of Lincoln. She will never reach all that she can be in the confines of the current Democrat Party.

Beckel said no, he couldn't do that, but if she gave him a free BJ, he'd give her phone number to Bill Clinton.
