The ACLU's view of freedom of speech is to coerce the government to FORCE students to watch something they don't agree with.
I have absolutely had it up to Green River! Every day somewhere in the country these f***s are getting away with another outrage. I can understand that maybe an underfunded school district is afraid to take them on but the Pentagon? How are they finding so easy to push institutions and branches of government around? Are there any conservative legal scholars out there who can do more than whine and bellyache in the best republican fashion? From what little I know I suspect that in the majority of such cases the district or town, or bureau in question is in fact in cahoots with the ACLU and "loses" on purpose (then pays their legal fees). But there has got to be some kind of pro-active strategy that can carry the war to them for a change. I am just so sick of the all whining and impotent teeth-gnashing I hear day-in, day-out on this subject. Can't we actually DO something?
Do a FR search on "ACLU". There have been several encouraging articles about pro-active anti ACLU action lately. I'm too tired and a techno dunce anyway to check right now.
But I think there is starting to be a groundswell about this. Look into it and add to it!
The ACLU should be considered an outlaw organization, with no protection of the law.
Since the early 60s we have been frogs in a pot of boiling water while liberals slowly turn up the heat. But they turned the heat up too fast with gay marriage, lost the election, and have been set back a decade or more.
BUMP
The attorneys in your federal agencies do not litigate cases [after 50 years they are also liberals]. They provide legal advice to the politico's on how to avoid litigation. Once a suit is filed, litigation for the US government is handled the attorneys from the Justice Department. So, no, their attitude is litigation avoidance, not making sure they pick key cases to fight and win them.
Even worse, these "public interest" groups have another thing going for them. Once they file, they will ask for attorney's fees which are usually given in settlement, or as a result of trial.
I share your outrage and we must confront these events. But also take heart that we are indeed doing something...at the ballot box. And we're winning.
