Time for Kofi Annan to resign

Kofi Annan should resign. Under his watch, the United Nations finds itself in the biggest scandal in its checkered history.

A hearing last week of the U.S. Senate's permanent subcommittee on investigations revealed the U.N.'s tacit complicity with Saddam Hussein in evading sanctions the international organization imposed upon the former Iraqi leader following the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

Although the United Nations was supposed to limit the oil lucre that flowed into the genocidal dictator's coffers – the better to prevent him from building up his military, from amassing a weapons arsenal – he nevertheless raked in more than $21 billion in illicit revenues over a 13-year span, more than double previous estimates.

Some $17 billion of that sum came through the U.N.'s so-called oil-for-food program, which began in 1996 and ended last year. It was supposed to allow Iraq to sell oil to provide food, medicine and other humanitarian aid to the Iraqi people.

The program was a sham. It enabled the Butcher of Baghdad to generate an illicit fortune through smuggling, skimming and kickbacks, right under the noses of Annan and the program's U.N. administrators.

"The magnitude of fraud perpetrated by Saddam Hussein in contravention of U.N. sanctions and the oil-for-food program is staggering," said Sen. Norm Coleman, the Minnesota Republican who chairs the investigations subcommittee.

Of course, Annan denies having known anything whatsoever about the Iraqi despot's subversion of the oil-for-food program. U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said last week that the secretary-general feels he has been unfairly "misjudged by certain media."

No.

It is NOT time for Kofi to resign. It's time for him and the whole outfit to disband - to get the H-E-double L out of our country, and don't let the door hit their backsides on the way out.

Why not have the UN set up their HQ in the middle of Iran, or North Korea, or China?

"Kofi Annan should resign"

He absolutely should resign !
No politically correct nicey nice dances should occur either.

This man needs to have the cloak of corruption ripped off of him , to expose all the evil and seedy things he has done in collusion with the likes of France Germany China and Russia,
making our great country look bad in the lead up to the removal of Saddam. And even more recently ,with his self righteous proclamations. All the while this cynical bastard and countless cohorts were stuffing their pockets as quick as they could before the cow went dry. If they'd had their way they'd still be milkin away today!
Thanks be to our courageous and forthright President George Bush , who didn't buy their BS . I hope now , with a mandate
he hands old Kofi his hat and finds the way to kick his ass out the door.
I tend to agree , the UN needs to leave US soil. It's become
an America bashing organization anyway . Why give them shelter and perks to be here ? I would 100% support the Prez
if he gives them an ultimatum to make deep reforms and weed out the corrupted ones or hit the road.

Send Kofi back to his hat factory in Ghana . Today!

He used to be the hot dog vendor at Macalester college football games, here in St.Paul.
I'm sure those commies would welcome him back.

Deport him, them and those.

I don't care where they go as long as it's out of here.

Like a bad divorce: Cut our losses and cut them loose.

I didn't bother reading the article.

Just the headline.

It's wrong.

It's time for Koffi to go to jail!
