Nice. I love a first hand account of the bravery and sacrifice of our troops. Fallujah is just another pothole on the road to freedom.

Great story and he is a awesome soldier.

Good read, indeed! I pray he comes home safe with the rest of his men. I pray the same for the brave Marines who do the mopping up work. May God grant them special insight and wisdom to detect where evil lurks. Lord...please keep them safe!

A thougtful and wonderfully well-written piece by a soldier who took part. Should be required reading for school kids and NBC and NYT reporters and editors.

What a great post! Mike has to know that if we could be there fighting with him side by side, we would. Since we can't be there on the ground, we fight the good fight here every day. If his letter doesn't convince people of the need to fight these monsters, nothing will.

They also found unbelievable amounts of drugs, mostly heroin, speed, and cocaine. It turns out, the enemy drugged themselves up to give them the "courage" and stupidity to stay and fight. I've never seen this reported.
...every citizen of Fallujah (non-insurgent) is getting $2,500 USD (that's a lot over here) to fix up their house or buy new things that may have been destroyed in the fighting.
I've never seen this reported.
It makes me so mad that soldiers have to take time to report what's going on themselves, because we can't rely on our damn 'reporters' to tell us.

"...no, this was not just a city of pissed off Iraqis, mad at the Coalition for forcing Saddam out of power. It was a city full of people from all over the Middle East whose sole mission in life was to kill Americans. Problem for them is that they were in the wrong city in November 2004."Wow. They discovered the truth and defeated the enemy at Fallujah. Colossal kudos to all the brave fighting men!
Thanks for posting this excellent read.

I read an article last week where they set up a rebuilding command post in a shop in Falluja - fighting was still going on the next block over. One guy was an engineer - one of his duties was popping open manholes to make sure the sewer water was still moving! Also assessing peoples homes and businesses for damages and what he would take to fix. Another guy had a backpack with $35,000 stuffed in it. He was passing out the $2,500 to people. He said he wasn't always positive the $ wasn't going to a bad guy, but that it was worth the risk to gain the trust of the regular citizens.

Sorry folks, but I remain on the team that preferred to level Falluja - after proper warning to the "Innocent" to leave and be searched...
These bastards aren't defeated until they are bled white and horrified by the consequences of following their lunatic Mullahs and their empty bravado.
