RICE LAKE, WIS. -- Lauren Hesebeck stepped out onto his front porch late Tuesday morning over the gentle objection of a family member.
His left arm, blasted by the barrage of gunfire that exploded in the Wisconsin woods Sunday, was resting in a blue sling. He wore a Green Bay Packers sweatshirt.
Hesebeck looked out over open fields and struggled to speak.
"Physically, I feel fine," he said. "I got pain medication. I can move my arm."
It was his heart, he said in a murmur, that ached.

On his porch, he declined to described the incident, except to say that much of what he has heard in media reports is not accurate.
"A lot of it is not true," he said. "But at this point, I just can't discuss anything."
Interesting.

He said that he had spent much of his time in the hospital talking to investigators about the shootings. And he will have to continue telling it for years as the investigation progresses into a trial, appeals... He couldn't forget any of it if he wanted to. Almost makes you want alzheimers, huh? Yes, he is in our prayers.

Over there at DU (I know, I couldn't help myself) their saying that the victims were racist, drunken, rednecks and that Vang was provoked.

Interesting.
Why?
I'm sure some of what was said is true, such as Vang was on private property in someone else's tree stand, alone. He was confronted, according to many reports, started to walk away, removing his rifle's scope, then turned and started firing.
Don't assume he's talking about the race-baiting or that someone who was shot in the back and killed actually fired first. If a presumption of innocence is to be given, I'd prefer it to go to the six dead men and two injured ones than the unharmed, unmarked guy in custody who was carrying the murder weapon.

Funny how morons like Vang always immediately fall back on the race card to protect them. Let's see, I'm of Swiss-German background, so if I'm trespassing on private land and doing something I shouldn't be, and someone calls me a Nazi, I have every right to open up on as many of them as I care to and then tell the cops that that they were mean to me and so it's OK that I killed them! Nice logic instilled into they proletarians by Jesse Jerkson and his crowd over the decades.
My family which settled in Wisconsin had a different outlook on people like Vang. I remember my grandfather telling me how he watched the last hanging in Mineral Point as a small boy. Maybe it's time to bring back the noose for Vang!

It is my understanding that gag orders cannot be issued before even a hearing has been held.
The authorities can only ask that witnesses not say anything but if the witnesses decide to talk to the press then the authorities are helpless to do anything about it.

This article was linked on a newsgroup post. The poster had twisted it into a vile version of this story.
There are some really sick people out there.

Amazing leap in logic there. From the single word, "interesting", you respond, " Don't assume he's talking about the race-baiting or that someone who was shot in the back and killed actually fired first."
I am simply wondering what really happened if, as Hesebeck said, "A lot of it is not true."
Not that the media deliberately making erroneous comments about guns and hunters would be too surprising, eh?

don't you wonder if the Democrat/Left talking heads and opinionators ever go to DU ? One has to wonder how they are asking questions about the election outcome if they ever visit there. They are seeing the cyberface of the Democrat party, and it ain't purty.

:Over there at DU..."
Now here is a very good example of the kind of thing that convinces me that ultimately we will end up with a full scale civil war in this country. I don't see this story as a particularly political issue, although I can understand why it is of interest to a lot of folks here since many people here are hunters. But why a bunch of latte drinking urbanites like the denizens of DU would be discussing this issue eludes me. Except, as you point out, to voice their disdain for white people who hunt and their illogical and self hating support of any and all non-white people who do damage to innocent people. They are truly a seditious fifth column and will have to dealt with extremely if they ever emerge from their garrets seeking action, as opposed to just yadda-yadda-yadda.

"Why am I not surprised? Did they also say the victims had it coming?" Of course they did...You know that according to those PETA libs over there at DU that it's OK to kill a human that is hunting animals.
