When Southerners aren't Understood.

Ebaum,
"My sister-in law is from Oklahoma and has a slight accent. She has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them to the groomers and have what is called a Line Cut. To her a line cut is when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off (because it gets matted or snarled). When she moved to Chicago with my brother, one of the cats fur got all tangled up during the move so she took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the price as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "yes, I know what a LION cut is." It seems her accent came out sounding like LION not LINE and this is how her cat was returned to her. She cried for a week...but not as much as the cat.

That's the kind of cut we give my grandma's cats every summer.

Maybe it wasn't how she was saying it, but that the person wasn't listening.

You are destined for a deep Hell =0)

My husband bought me a cairn terrier puppy four years ago to help me recover from surgery. The groomer " worked with cairns all the time", they are supposed to be stripped. That means all the loose hairs ( the long ones) are pulled to allow the coat to grow in properly. They SHAVED her from her neck to her tail. She still has to this day some baby fur underneath.

Is that one of them "Double Ender" kind of thingys?
To: Boiler Plate
There's no such thing as a "line cut." This story was made up out of whole cloth just to make fun of southerners.
Snopes has the details.

I worked with a woman (I won't call her a lady) who never listened to the customers, and was constantly getting things wrong. She is a know-it-all shrew and a Kerry supporter. She is also money-grubbing, a characteristic that I have noticed to be common among a lot of Dims.
To: AirForceMom
My Cocker Spaniel has been placed on the "Bad Dog" list at all the local groomers. So we bought a pair of clippers. The clippers died halfway through. It is almost as bad a the kitty.

Still it is pretty darn funny.
To: Paul Atreides
She doesn't live in the Chicago area does she?
To: Boiler Plate
I keep my red Persian clipped like this year around. She loves it because her thick coat weighs over 1 lb. when its fully grown out. That's significant for a 9 lb. cat!
