"Man overboard on Carnival Cruise ship"

He could have stayed on board and gotten the Carnival craps.

It's very possible that this unfortunate individual did, if fact, fall overboard. However, I keep thinking that it's also possible this may be a hoax. It will be interesting to see how much life insurance this person has, and how recently it was purchased.

Yeah, something is fishy here [groan].

I have been on three cruises with three different companies. All were outside balconied cabins. Every one of those balconies had railing that were a tad higher than waist-level (I am 6 feet tall). All the railings on deck were at least as high.

On one of the 7/24 shipboard TV channels showed a monitor's view of the side of the ship and I am sure they have tapes of such views.

Either the guy (1) tried an insurance hoax as you suggest, (2) was murdered and tossed overboard, (3) committed suicide, or (4) got liquored up and tried to walk on the railings (happened a while back). There is no way you could "accidentally" fall overboard.
