Family Makes Foul Discovery Inside Frozen Turkey Unexpected Stuffing Puts Hamper On Holiday Dinner POSTED: 7:51 AM EST November 24, 2004 UPDATED: 8:37 AM EST November 24, 2004

BRIDGETON, N.J. -- A Cumberland County, N.J., family made a shocking discovery as it was preparing for their Thanksgiving dinner.

Diane Hall and her family found a turkey head inside their frozen turkey.

"I went to pull it out and it popped out in the sink," said Hall.

At first, Hall wasn't sure what it was but her nephew, Eric Loatman, knew exactly what it was.

"I said, look, there's the head. She said, 'No, it's not.' I said, 'Yes, it is, see the eyes, nose and beak,'" said Loatman.

"It's gross, sickening," said Hall.

She checked the wrapper to see who distributed the turkey and called Heartland Foods in Minnesota.

Hmm, maybe they thought the turkey originally didn't have a head.

Turkeys have heads? Since when did this happen? I thought they were made right there next to the keebler elf factory just as they come from the supermarket.

This should be worth about 5 million, taking into considration the pain and emotional turmoil I'm sure they'll claim it caused..

In reading the article it said Heartland sold out in 1997 and no longer used the label. You'd have to wonder just how old that turkey was. I'd call the store I bought it from.

Isn't the neck and giblets still inside?

This is a little bit silly, in some places they would be charged extra.

As a result of the soon to be filed lawsuit, turkeys now require the following warning labels.....

WARNING, THIS FROZEN PROTIEN MASS, WAS ONCE A LIVING CREATURE. IT MAY CONTAIN UNEXPECTED BODY PARTS, INCLUDING HEADS, FEET, FEATHERS, GUTS, AND BEAKS. PLEASE DISCARD ANY OFFENSIVE ARTICLES, AND AS USUAL, PLEASE REMOVE BAG OF INNARDS BEFORE COOKING. WARNING

I agree. You get the neck, the heart, the liver and some undefined slimey things anyway what's the big deal.

Maybe is was an export turkey, going somewhere where they would gobble up the head.

I was thinking it was going to be something worse.

Think of some bored turkey pluckers playing a prank. They are laughing their butts off right now. It might not seem so funny when they get fired next week.

I find it strange that someone would complain that they found a turkey head after reaching their hand up a turkey's headless, featherless, footless, internal organless, rear end!
