Venom? Is that your perception?

em2vn said: "Conrad has always been known as a stand up guy. He certainly made a serious drunken mistake but his life has been pretty close to the vest."

Are you saying that this was Robert Conrad's first time to be a drunk driver? Or are you saying that it was Conrad's first time to cause an injury accident while intoxicated?

em2vn said: "He is a well known conservative and supports conservative causes."

And your point is what?

em2vn said: "I don't think the state wants to put any 69 year old in jail. The punishment fits the crime."

Do you believe that Conrad has a right to continue driving? Do you believe that Robert Conrad is entitled to drive while drunk as long as he doesn't get caught again?

The jails are overflowing, so I agree in part.

em2vn said: "I work with a lot of guys who drink too much too often and they are as conservative as they come."

Again, what exactly are you trying to say?

em2vn said: "Alcohol abuses anyone who gives it a chance."

Are you saying then that Robert Conrad is a victim of alcohol and therefore not responsible for his actions?

I think my position was stated without ambiguity. My perception is that the venom is flowing this morning. The posts have remined me of a pack of liberals offering up their version of "better than thou."
I have no idea what Robert Conrad's driving record is, nor does anyone on FR. In act neither you nor I know Robert Conrad the man other than in his public persona. His public image has always been positive unlike so many in the entertainment industry.
I would certainly take into consideration his public works and his contrition if I were ask to sentence him.

"Do you believe that Conrad has a right to continue driving? Do you believe that Robert Conrad is entitled to drive while drunk as long as he doesn't get caught again?"

This question of yours fails to acknowledge my support for the sentence that he received. In fact it seems like a pointless question to ask when the answer was readily available.
As to your question about the men I work with, the point was that alcohol is a problem that invades all elements of our society, not just liberals as was the tenor of the posts.

"Are you saying then that Robert Conrad is a victim of alcohol and therefore not responsible for his actions?"

You will have to deal with the idiocy of that question yourself. It's obvious that such an idea was in no way offered. The clear point was that anyone who drinks faces possible long term harm.
