Goss is ridding the place of anti-Bush folks.
Good going Goss, and good riddance to the leakers.

....in the latest sign of upheaval in the agency under its new chief, Porter J. Goss.

I would call it the latest sign of "repair". The NY Times is having spasms.

What we are seeing at the CIA, and soon to see at State and in many other areas of the Executive Branch, is Bush doing what he has wanted to do all along - - ferret out all the socialist, communist, liberal Democrat scum and return government to the good guys. THIS is why the Democrats and the old media were so desperate to win this election. They KNEW what was coming if Bush won re-election and they are absolutely horrified.

Too bad for them. We won.

"C.I.A. officers are career professionals who work for the president," Mr. McLaughlin wrote. "They see this as a solemn duty, regardless of which party holds the White House.

But a Republican in the White House is more than any professional should have to bear, so they are leaving.

Has everyone ruled out the possibility that the intelligence community during this period was simply doing its job - calling things as it saw them - and that people with a wide array of motives found it advantageous to put out this material when the C.I.A.'s views seemed at odds with the administration's?"

He just said a mouthful. They called them as they saw them, and then leaked it to the press. Thats the point. We've seen for several years that something was badly wrong at CIA, and that someone needed to go through it with a broom and dustpan.

Its happening now, and I find it hard to keep from smiling. Tenet's CIA is the organization that phonied up the TWA 800 investigation, where the airliner climbs another 1500 feet after being blown in two by an empty fuel tank. They are the ones who didn't warn us about 911, they are the ones who publicly denied Atta's meeting with Iraqi intelligence, when they weren't there to see it. In fact, thats the basis of their denial "we can't confirm it" since we didn't see it, therefore it didn't happen. They rushed this little denial into print within hours of Czech government statements to the contrary.

They are the ones who couldn't find any uranium smuggling in Niger, although we later found out that Libya was getting her uranium from there.

They were the ones who swore to Bush that the WMD were there waiting to be found, but couldn't find them when we took them at their word.

There was an endless drumbeat of leaks to the press designed to embarrass the president, intended to throw the election. If there are senior CIA who can't serve a Republican president during wartime, they need to find another business.

My favorite part of this is that they refer to the folks leaving as "very senior guys."

Here's a pic:

Goss should not just fire CIA people who leak information to the press, he should have them prosecuted and put in jail. They are breaking the law in leaking secrets.

These are definitely Clinton people who never had a problem breaking the law for political reasons.

The CIA is no different from any other government agency. Bill Clinton politicized them to use as a political weapon against political opponents.

He did it to the FBI, the ATF (WACO), Dept. of State, INS (remember the machine-gun toting kidnapper/thugs of Elian Gonzales who illegally entered a private residence and beat up unarmed civilians and reporters in a kidnapping even liberal law professors said was absolutely against U.S. law?) etc.

I'd like to see them get rid of Valerie Plame too, or send her to Antarctica or some other God forsaken place.

I wonder if any of the guys being shoved out the door are the ones who decided to send Joe Wilson on his little junket to Niger?

Any action that causes the New York Times 'spasms' is, by definition, good for the USA.

"WASHINGTON, Nov. 24 - Two more senior officials of the Central Intelligence Agency's clandestine service are stepping down, intelligence officials said Wednesday, in the latest sign of upheaval in the agency under its new chief, Porter J. Goss."

A timely leak most likely to follow so another investigation will be needed.

i don't understand the attitude that "these government jobs are ours for life."

since when have employees not been expected to agree with the management?

corporations and even small businesses make personnel changes routinely.
