[Excerpts]
....A letter to the Coloradoan describes how the writer, who has a master's degree, in case we were wondering, researched the candidates carefully, thought deeply about the issues and then "voted mostly 'D' down the ballot." She then reads the minds of nearly 60 million people: "Those who voted on fear from Bush-backed spin or what their family does voted mostly 'R.' " Her master's must be in Art, emphasis on broad-brush techniques.
...column titled "Faith, not reason, gave Bush victory".... says, "It is now clear that for large number of Americans it is still as if modernity never actually happened, that irrationality, unreason, belief in mystical and supernatural hold sway."
Could all this be true, I wondered?.... I dragged my knuckles off the ground, placed my hand on my sloping Neanderthal forehead and mustered the few brain cells not occupied with maintaining respiration to ponder the thought.
Just then a pop-up ad appeared on my computer. "Do you think you're smart?" Not really, given my nitwit voting record..... I decided to take the IQ test... I plodded through, pausing only to wipe the drool from my keyboard...
....There it was, a snappy Certificate of Intellectual Achievement, evidence that I was no mental midget.
True-or-False: If only liberals are intelligent, and if I'm a popup-site-certified brainiac, then I must be a liberal. What else could explain my newfound smartness? Had my original lefty parents lost me as a baby while they were busy chaining themselves to old-growth timber, leaving me to be raised by a pack of feral but kindly conservatives? Perhaps.
....Maybe a willingness to denigrate the cranial capacity of conservatives doesn't signify intellect, but small-mindedness. Perhaps as we continue barreling into modernity, it's actually intelligent to pause and ask if everything that's possible is also ethical......
I disagree, I maintain, these snobs KNOW we aren't ignorant or stupid, or anything even close, they are simply hoping by stating these things as fact over and over, we will begin to believe it, and next time we will be swayed o their point of view.
You may be right!
"Nothing so offends the doctrinaire intellectual as our ability to achieve the momentous in a matter-of-fact way, unblessed by words." -- Eric Hoffer
"Using governmental force to impose a vision on others is intellectual sloth." -- Ken Schoolland
"Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it."-- Thomas Sowell
"One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that; no ordinary man could be such a fool." -- Eric Blair, aka George Orwell

While reading this; it became obvious that my vision enhancing specticles needed cleansing maintenance.
Then it "dawned on me". The reason there are so many "liberals":
cavemen didn't have corrective lenses.
Did darwin take this into account?
I've always wondered if Dubya's Texas mannerisms and speech don't contribute to Liberals' certainty that he's stupid? After watching tens of thousands of hours of movies and TV shows that equate southern accents with stupidity, it's got to have a major effect on left-coasters and northeastern liberals - especially when they don't personally know people with southern accents themselves - so they have no other frame of reference other than what TV provides them. Add to that the MSM's longstanding stereotype equating Republicans with stupidity....
She has a Masters, huh? Well, I have a PhD and voted Republican -- does that prove that 'rats are intellectually inferior?
This is a funny article! Loved the part about the pop-up IQ test.
Stereotypes of any kind are not healthy, but after reading three weeks of screeching from the other side in letters to the editors and in opinion columns about what idiots we Bush supporters are, I'm starting to think that libs are delusional, snooty and braid-dead.
Oooopsie, that should be braiN-dead! *blushing*
Exactly my point! It doesn't stop with President Bush huwever. Suffice to say, at least for me, we are in good company!
A "Masters"? Does Dodge make that? - the Dodge Masters (it's a SUV right?) And a "PhD" I think that's one of those new Nissan or Toyota pick-ups. I don't know how it is that what kind of SUV or pick-up you drive determines your voting pattern, but I can tell you that have a F-150 and I voted Republican!
Gawrsh, that mus' be it! H'yuck! H'yuck!
I read your Tuesday, 23 Nov article "I Think, Therefore I'm Liberal?" online.
Good article, I got a kick out of it.
For my own part, I'm a software systems engineer working for the Air Force. I have a bachelors in electrical engineering. I've not met anyone with a degree in the 'hard sciences' who voted for Kerry.
It seems that most of the 'educated' who voted for Kerry have the soft, fluffy degrees in Liberal Arts--which, by definition, means they spend their 'education' deciding how they Feel about something based on how others Felt about it.
I voted for Bush because I believe, based on our history, in American Exceptionalism.
I've served in the Army. I've been all over the US, the UK and spent a year on the Korean DMZ. Based on my experiences and some analysis of the alternatives to The American Way; America is Man's last best hope to live in peace, liberty, and prosperity. Bush is on America's side. Kerry and the leftists aren't....
I look forward to reading more of your articles,
Sincerely,
Here are a series of real IQ tests you can take. (You need Flash installed).
http://www.highiqsociety.org/flash/nonmembers/iqtests.htm
The funny thing about that online I.Q. test was that I thought it was just a silly, fun way to pass the time and put no real stock in its assessment abilities. I was rather stunned when my score popped up as 136, because that's exactly what I scored 28 years ago, when I took a real I.Q. test in college. Either an odd coincidence, or whoever writes them tests is dang good!
