i agree that it's important to limit the EU's power and influence wherever possible, but I'm not sure I'd trust Russia too much. You used the word hegemony in post 13, to me this has a negative connotation to it. I prefer that neither the EU or Russia are in that position. How much of "Russia's former power" would you like to see the country regain?

What this whole thread reminds of is that some people hated the evil Soviet Union so much they would even work for the evil Nazis.

Seems to me, if you work for any evil group, you become evil.

So, folks hate Putin's man so they work for Soros' man.

EVIL wins either way.

The EU lovers will sleep well on this victory. Their evil side won another country and people to punder.

I prefer that neither be in that position too but I don't think "neither" is an available choice. Over the next 30 years Europe will arrive in hell riding in a hand basket.

The power I hope the Russians develop is economic.
