i forgot one point. every news person HAS to be in control, if i go out on an interview and someone tries to hold the mic, i yank it back out of their hands, it's typical protocol, next time you watch the news watch an interview, the interviewee NEVER touches the mic. what if they went off and started cussing or whatever.
You're a news photog, eh? What about live shots? A reporter at the station where I used to work did a live shot man-on-the-street type interview about something. She set up the interview before the live shot without even asking him to remove his baseball cap. He turned to face the camera and talk in the mic and our audience got to see the big yellow letters SH!T HAPPENS on his cap.
This probably wouldn't even be a big deal today, but 10 years ago it was and both the reporter and photog were suspended for 3 days without pay. Of course the live shot was quickly dubbed onto the photogs' Wacker Tape to be shown at future parties. :o)
