'I want my wife, dead or alive' 23/11/2004 22:10 - (SA)

Baghdad - British aid worker Margaret Hassan's Iraqi husband said in a front-page message carried by a Baghdad newspaper on Tuesday that he wanted her back "dead or alive", a week after an Arab TV network received footage apparently showing his missing wife being murdered.

"I want my wife, dead or alive. If she is dead, I urge you to tell me where she is so that I can lay her to rest," said the appeal by Tahsin Hassan printed in the Al-Mashreq daily.

"I beg those who took my wife to tell me what they did to her. They can call me or call the Iraqi Peace Institute.

"I know there is a tape showing her assassination. The tape might be authentic, but I am not sure if that is the case," the message said.

Hassan, 59, head of Care International's Iraq operations, was seized in Baghdad on October 19 while on her way to work.

A video received a week ago by the Al-Jazeera satellite news network showed an armed man shooting a blind-folded European woman who may have been Margaret Hassan.

No body found... no claim of responsibility... and it looks like some folks may be backing off from their certainty that she was murdered.

From early on in this whole situation, I've felt that things were being played out at a much deeper level than most of us are aware.

"I beg those who took my wife to tell me what they did to her."

Probably shouldn't ask that question.

No body found... no claim of responsibility... ...

So, if the Polish woman was released and there is no body for Margaret Hassan, what was the ID for the disembowelled body of the "blond" woman that had the arms and legs cut off?

As for the identity of the blonde woman, my guess would be that they've either got several hostages that they've never mentioned... or there are members of these terrorist groups who are "western" in appearance -- who can be left as decoys if and when they fall in battle. Or maybe a little of both.

DNA testing would only prove whether the blonde was or was not Margaret Hassan... and apparently they've proven that it's not her. I haven't seen anything that specifically cites the DNA tests, but at the very least there's been no confirmed report that her body has been found.

How heartbreaking. To think that he has to beg the people that she devoted 30+ years of her life to help......fellow Muslims. They are mutants.

The dismembered body could be that of a woman kept as a slave for many years and recently murdered.

Well, it did get beyond speculation in some reports. Seems the tape would be fairly definitive; but who knows?

I believe she is dead; and that those that kept her; killed her; and their MO gives no reason whatsoever, to believe that they would be moved to respond to her husbands pleas.

I read somewhere that there was a tape of her in great emotional. . .and physical distress as she was pleading for help.

The whole thing is heinous.
