Presumably he's referring to the moneychangers in the Temple, but doesn't understand what that is about.
It's common to blame sleaze and other media failures on the suits, executives concerned with making more money. This may have been true at one time, but it's hardly true now. The media broadcast sleaze and lies not because it's more profitable but because it fulfills their political agenda. But they like to think of themselves as pure artistic types who are forced to do bad things by the money men.
It's been well established that a G movie makes more money than an R movie, yet Hollywood continues to stick gratuitous sex scenes in almost every movie they make. It's not to sell movies; it's to please their tastes and corrupt their audiences.
There's no way that anyone thought 60 Minutes would make more money for CBS by attacking George Bush with the National Guard story. They just had to do it because they were determined to change the outcome of the election.
By this time, they know perfectly well why Fox is growing and they are shrinking, but they would rather continue pushing their agenda than increase ratings, any day of the week.
"The labor force is conservative," he said. "How in the world did that happen?"
Because, contrary to the democratic party paradigm, the workers of America aint dumb.
Atheist Rooney buttresses his argument by referencing a notable episode in the Gospels (Christ expelling the "moneychangers"). It's funny - atheists do this sort of thing all the time, supporting their points with religious-based ideas and values while simultaneously derogating religion. It's like cutting off the limb you're sitting on.
People who work for a living know you have to work for a living.
(unless you're a liberal elite)
Rooney blames Bias.
Yeah. I guess Bernie Goldberg did have something to do with it.
Not so. The porn/molester/pedophile industry BY FAR voted for Kerry.
What a sad and hubristic bunch the left is.
You got that right.
Also, what Rooney does not understand is that once upon a time, the democratic party was WAY different, and was considered the party of the working man.
Now, it has become the party of the people who don't work.
Tell that to Jonathan Edwards. He entered Yale at the age of 14. I don't intend for this to be mean but I doubt Mr. Rooney would be able to get past the first page of the introduction of "The Freedom of the Will".
Or how about C.S. Lewis? He taught Mideval and Renaissance literature at Oxford. My guess is that Andy would end up dropping that class.
I could go on and on and on and on. Mr. Rooney should already know that stereotypes only make the person who believes them look stupid.
And by Andy's own admission, the "moneychangers" are liberals.
Andy needs to buy a clue about what liberal big government does to guys who work with their hands and what it does for the "moneychangers".
Let me recommend a book to you............
He accused Christian fundamentalists of being ignorant, saying Christians turned to religion because of "a lack of education."
Well, then how does one explain Christian colleges, Andy?
"They haven't been exposed to what the world has to offer," he explained.
Oh, but they have, Andy! They have been exposed to the raunch and hedonism and they have in turn rejected it. The finer, nobler, things in life; fine art, music, etc., they do embrace. The history of high art is a tribute to God in itself, and about God almost exclusively.
I see your point but, of course, you recognize that Dubya has the most pro-government president since LBJ (example: his budget busting increase of Medicare).
Hey Andy, I am highly educated and God fearing! I am not alone!
Putz.
"I am an atheist," Rooney told Tufts. "I don't understand religion at all. I'm sure I'll offend a lot of people by saying this, but I think it's all nonsense."
Since every President in memory claimed religion, this guy is not qualified to comment, opine, write, analyse regarding the American political landscape.
After busted for Monicagate, Clinton was filmed every Sunday, Bible in hand going in to a church, or counseling with the most Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Dems are not upset that Bush is religious. They are pissed off that he won.
Rooney also praised Bernard Goldberg's book, "Biased."
Rooney is just a fundamental dumbass.
"The labor force is conservative," he said. "How in the world did that happen?"
Maybe years of lies and being misled would account for it?
Hey Andy, you apparently don't get out much, do you? The labor force has been conservative, since forever. They may have liked unions, but they never liked hippies or traitors.
