It's hard to imagine why you would need 20 rounds to hunt deer. Put this together with his threat against his wife, and it looks as if he may have intended murder in the first place.
While the SKS might not be the first choice for a great deer rifle, it's certainly adequate, and if it's the rifle you already own, it'll work just fine.
Keep in mind it's not the rifle that did the killing...
