The decent agnostics and atheists that I have discussed this with use the 10 Commandments minus the references to God as a guideline for their morality and standards of right and wrong.

Unfortunately there are many who are not decent, and many who use the line of reasoning (if it can be called "reasoning") that each person should just think up their own moral guidelines, if they want some.

I don't know why these people don't see that by each person depending on his/her own mind, we wind up with skin lampshades, cattle cars full of Jews, and extermination camps.

And 40+ million babies killed before breathing air.

"And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.

We are instructed by our founder not to completely disregard those who believe morality can be maintained without religion, for their intentions are well-meaning, but instead to use caution as we indulge them. As we can see so clearly today, over-indulgence bears a tremendous penalty.
