The silly argument about persons not making a "choice" to be gay completely ignores the fact that people make self-destructive choices and engage in self-destructive behavior all the time. Just because the consequences of those choices are negative does not mean that the choice was not made. The argument is logically ridiculous. People choose not to do what is best for themselves or their loved ones because of selfish, short-sighted interests.

Sexual orientation may be optional for some people. It is not for me.

Homosexuality in most cases is obviously inherent and probably genetic. So far it has remained incurable in most cases, despite repeated, aggressive attempts by many to cure it, and most homosexuals have tremendous incentive to alter their orientation.

I am heterosexual. This is not optional. It is the way I am, have always been, and will always be.

I do not think homosexuals find their sexual orientation to be optional either.

I submit that homosexuality is caused by environmental factors early in childhood. Surely there are enough case studies over the years to substantiate this. Namely, an only
son raised by a dominant mother with no father figure.
