Bill Clinton had a totally open borders policy. Hillary wanst to get tough on the borders, create more union govt jobs inspecting cargo and create more first responder jobs - fireman and cops. Put the first responders on the borders.

This whole thing will be phony if she gets elected. My guess is if she looks half serious about protecting the borders - she might just win. A caller to Savage said he would vote for if she got tough on the borders. I wonder if this guy was a Hillary shill. Something is up. Bill & Hillary will make Arkansas their election base at the library. It will be a billion dollar slush fund for them.

How cynical do you want to be? I wonder if she'd be doing this if it weren't for the fact that the Hispanic voters are becoming Republicans.

Hey, the Republicans can adopt a real simple way of defeating this little strategy: Get tough on immigration themselves. Wow, what a concept!

Democrats get dumber and dumber!!

They criticize the new media, but they don't understand how savvy it's allowed voters to become. In years past, voters might have taken Kerry's shift to the middle during the general election, as an honest position, but voters saw Kerry's flip to the center coming, long before Kerry won his party's nomination from leftie Howard Dean. We knew he would say anything to get elected. Sounds like the same disrespect for voter intelligence is already coming from Hillary. Didn't work this time, won't work in 2008.

Sen. Clinton criticized the Bush administration for not using advanced technology to improve border security.

Why, they didn't sell enough of her books?

I don't care why she is doing it, I like it. Maybe it will keep Bush from acting like his pandering to Fox is a "bi-partisan" move.

There you have it. And the Dems didn't even need to take their own poll to get it...although they probably did anyway.

Clinton knows her primary opponent is Bill Richardson.

Bush would not have won had he not increased his percentage of Hispanic votes up to 45%. The Dems best hope of winninmg in 2008 is to reduce that percentage significantly.

Dems want to win and Bill Richardson has a lock on the Hispanic vote. They may prefer Hillary, but winning comes first.

Hillary's only chance to win the nomination is to poison the Democrat voters against Hispanics, which will also help sew up the union vote.

But: Hillary can't win the general election after waging a four year jihad against Hispanics. Caught between a rock and a hard place, Clinton all but concedes the general election in order to win the primary.

Immigration reform alone would pretty much guarantee a victory to ANY candidate.

This isn't about gaining control of illegals; it's about gaining control of everybody. It isn't about getting tough on borders; it's about a National ID.

Everyone in the South is just waiting to vote for her. Has she developed a drawl yet?

More than any other leader of either political party, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has been focusing on the issue of immigration reform and border security - taking hard-line positions that appeal to frustrated Republicans in a move that could guarantee her enough red state support to win the White House in 2008.

Last election, the 100-ton gorilla was the invasion. A skillful politician could couple that with the fact that the influx has been bad for the global environment, by moving people to the most wasteful nation on earth, and has diverted federal funding to subsidizing the cheap labor with federal programs. But, they don't represent us...they just represent global corporate interests and each other's whacko ideas.

Exception....the HOR. That Roy Beck and his organization seem to have a handle on that one, where the members are more immediately accountable to their constituency.

You know what? If Hillary's the only one smart enough to actually represent what voters want?

1. I know longer refer to her as the Hildebeast (sigh....)

2. I don't make fun of the ugly pants suits any more, (unless they're some really awful color....)

3. I vote for her if she promises to protect our nation from the invasion. (that one might take a few stiff drinks)

Nonsense, she's got a lock on the nomination. This is positioning for the general election. She'll advocate border security now, then after a terrorist incident, she'll claim that she will be more effective at keeping America safe than are the Republicans.

Either way, she'll prove that your open borders stance is a sure loser.

Only the fools will be fooled. She's also talking about faith these days, but I don't believe that, either. There's no way that she-devil can possibly make up for the evil those rats did in 8 years of rule. Plus, they hate the military.

However, if she uses her influence on immigration, the republicans can go in with more confidence and take all the credit. I wouldn't mind that.

The nomination is a lock. This is about the general election:

"I always take time to worship God in as evangelical a way as is feasible, given time and location constraints. As you know, I consider myself an evangelical Christian, really a Christian conservative, if you want to know the truth, so it's nice to be 'home' again in the South, which I really consider my quote-unquote home even though I live in New York most of the time. Well, Washington, D.C., most of the time, actually, but if I'm not there I'm in New York, of course, but always thinking about being here, in the South, my spiritual home, where I shared so many wonderful evangelical . . . moments and . . . events."

- Hillary Rodham Clinton

I recall a number of posters here who are so border-militant that I wouldn't be surprised to hear the same thing from them.
